How to Set Up A Meta Ads Account and Hand it Over to an Expert
So, you’re ready to advertise on Meta (formerly Facebook) to get your brand in front of a larger audience? Great choice! While the idea of setting up a Meta Ads account might sound a bit tricky, it’s actually a pretty straightforward process once you know the steps. I’m going to walk you through everything you need to get your account set up and show you how to bring in an expert (like me!) to manage it for you if you’d rather focus on other parts of your business.
Ready to go? Let’s get started!
Step 1: Sign Up for a Meta Ads Account
Before you can advertise on Meta, you need to create a Meta Ads account through Meta Business Manager. Let’s break it down.
Sign Up for Meta Ads
- Go to Meta Business Manager: Head to business.facebook.com and click on “Create Account.”
- Sign in with your Facebook account: Use your existing Facebook login details (or create a new Facebook account if needed).
- Enter your business details: Provide your business name, your name, and the email you’ll use to manage the account.
- Complete the account setup: Once you’ve entered the necessary details, click “Submit.” You’ve now created your Business Manager account!
Set Up Your Ad Account in Meta Business Manager
- Go to Business Settings: Once inside Business Manager, click on the three-line menu in the top left, then click “Business Settings.”
- Create an Ad Account: Under “Accounts,” select “Ad Accounts,” and click on the blue “Add” button to create a new ad account.
- Name your Ad Account: Choose a name that makes sense (e.g., your business name) and select the time zone and currency you’ll be using.
- Assign people to manage the Ad Account: You can give yourself (and others, if needed) access to the account at this stage. For now, make sure you’re added as an Admin so you have full control.
Boom! Your Meta Ads account is created.
Add Billing Information
To start running ads on Meta, you’ll need to add your payment details. Here’s how:
- Go to Billing Settings: Inside Business Manager, click the menu icon (three lines in the top-left corner) and navigate to “Billing.”
- Add Payment Method: Click on “Payment Settings” and choose your payment method (credit card, PayPal, or other options depending on your country).
- Select Billing Preferences: You can set up automatic payments based on your ad spend or use manual payments if you prefer to prepay for your campaigns.
- Save and Confirm: Once everything’s in place, click “Submit.”
With your billing info added, your Meta Ads account is ready to go.
Step 2: Invite Someone to Advertise on Meta for You
Want to focus on running your business and have someone else manage your Meta ads? No problem! You can invite a trusted person to manage your ad account and advertise on Meta on your behalf.
Here’s how to do it:
Invite a User to Your Meta Ads Account
- Go to Business Settings: In Meta Business Manager, click on “Business Settings” under the three-line menu.
- Access People and Partners: On the left-hand side, select “People” or “Partners” depending on who you want to add.
- Click the Blue ‘+’ Icon: Hit the blue “+” button to add someone new.
- Enter their email address: Type in the email of the person you want to invite. If you’re inviting me to manage your ads, this is where you’d enter my email!
- Assign the right role: Meta offers different levels of access. Choose “Admin” for full control or “Advertiser” if you just want someone to manage your campaigns without access to billing info.
- Send the Invite: Click “Send,” and the invited user will receive an email. Once they accept, they’ll be able to log in and start managing your Meta ads.
Easy as that! Now, you can focus on your business while your ads are taken care of.
