What is the difference between Life Coaching and Transformation Coaching?

Life Coaching normally focuses on a single problem or Goal that needs to be solved. Transformation or Mindset coaches focus on changing the way a person sees themselves and attempts to change a person’s perspective of themselves. Transformation coaching is a holistic approach that helps clients rethink what is possible for them. Common areas addressed by this form of coaching would be Identity, values, beliefs, mindfulness and self-image.   

What is the role of a Life Coach?

The role of the Coach is to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for the Coaching client. To be present and to facilitate the client’s journey to overcoming barriers to their success in either their career or personal life or both. A good coach needs to be objective, keep their client motivated as well as hold them accountable for inaction.  

What is the role of the Coaching Client?

The client is responsible for committing fully to the coaching process. This would include identifying their goals, setting the agenda, being open and candid with the Coach and being accountable for completing any actions and assignments that may need to be completed before the next session.  

What can I expect from my first Life Coaching session?

Your first Coaching session will be largely exploratory. In this session the coach focuses on getting to know you as a potential client and vice versa. The Coach will want to understand what made you decide to start a coaching journey. This would include understanding what problem you are wanting to solve and the goal you want to achieve. Lastly the coach will assess whether he / she is a good fit for your specific requirements / asks. At the end of the session the coach will agree the next steps with you with regards to session frequency, format, recommended packages etc.

What kind of relationship can I expect with my coach?

Your coach’s primary goal is to provide a professional and supportive environment where you can thrive. The relationship is designed to be A-Social, meaning it is strictly professional and focused on your personal development and growth. This ensures that all interactions remain safe, objective, and centered on your goals. By maintaining clear boundaries, your coach can offer you the best possible support and guidance without any social obligations or conflicts of interest.

What is the difference between a Life Coach and a Therapist?

Life Coaches will focus on the present with a view to the future. The aim is to overcome barriers, improve skills and raise competence. A life coach may spend a small amount of time focusing on the past but the main focus is to create a vision of the future. A Therapist would be focused on the past and the present and treat behavioral or mental related issues. Examples would be clinical anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, loss, abuse, addiction etc.
